Adolph "Al" Barracato
When Al was in the Navy he decided working in the kitchen wasn't for him. So he began training while on board to become an optician.

After Al got out of the Navy he began working as an optician at several locations in Akron and Cleveland
When he went about opening his own store the local opticians discouraged him from doing so. Al would not be denied and began selling his optical services door to door out of his car!

Al wanted more for his customers and wanted them to feel at home while he provided his optical services. That idea is what motivated him to purchase the home now known as Adolph Optical located in Highland Square.

Our Highland Square History
Became the West Hill Branch Library sometime in the 1950s.
It was later broken into several apartments.
Co-Founders and Co-Owners Adolph "Al" and wife Donna Barracato open Adolph Optical business in Highland Square.
Adolph Optical is a 1 of a kind, eye care and eyewear fashion boutique!
Purchases the historic former library and moves Adolph Optical to its current location.
The fusion of retro fashion and trendy designs continue paired with quality eye care at our Highland Square location.
Although Donna worked tirelessly full time for 30 years, she is now enjoying retired life!
Al and his son Tom along with their caring staff including sister Patty and niece Emily, provide a unique, cozy environment to get an eye exam or fitted for glasses that doesn't feel like a doctor's office.
